The 1920’s Art Deco-influenced Veuve earring is inspired by one of my very favorite true stories about business women in history - the story of Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin aka “Madame Clicquot” of Veuve Clicquot. Widowed at 27, she took over her husband’s failing champagne business and turned it into an international empire. This might seem trivial now, but back in the 18th century, a woman in business would have been (backwardly) thought to be ridiculous. Despite the difficulties of being young and female, she revolutionized the company and the process of making champagne using a method called “riddling” that modern wine makers still utilize to this day. Madame Clicquot’s relentless pursuit of the perfection of her craft and her extraordinary ambition deeply resonates with me.

In creating the Veuve statement earring, I married this amazing story and my favorite decade in art history - the roaring, effervescent 1920s. I love this time of arguably incomparable progressions in fashion, art, music and a time of decadent soirées with towers of glass coupes filled to the brim with the finest champagne.

Offered in three color ways - white, blush, and French blue, the Veuve statement earring is embellished with 22k gold luster, hung from 14/20 delicate gold chain that’s mounted on a graceful, elongated clear teardrop shaped CZ stud.

Size: 3.5"

Made of high fire ceramic stoneware and glazed with high fire glaze, then a low fire gold luster overglaze in 22K.

We recommend gently hand washing with a microfiber cloth as 22k gold is a soft, precious metal and harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaning products can scratch it over time.

Framed Intaglios & Originals

I recommend a dry environment away from extreme temperatures. Use soft microfiber cloth for dusting and wiping the glass.

Ceramic Picture Frames

Each piece is made of low fire clay and needs to be handled with care. Clean the inside and outside by laying the frame and gently wipe with microfiber cloth.

Ceramic Jewelry Care

Jewelry pieces are made from clay with 22k gold luster accents, read the product listing to learn more about the jewelry chain or earring posts. Due to the nature of being made from clay they are fragile and should be handled with care. In order to ensure the longevity of each piece I recommend avoiding sleeping with, swimming with, or shower with the jewelry.

Fine Jewelry Care

Sterling Silver Widow's Mite

While cleaning this piece be gentle with the 22k gold luster ceramic widow's mite coin that’s encased by sterling silver. Clean the sterling silver by rinsing well in clear hot water and hand-dry immediately and thoroughly. For silver that is tarnished, clean with a good quality silver polish and avoid "dip" polishes.

Diamond Meredith

This necklace is meant to be worn however we recommend taking it off if you are swimming, showering, or playing contact sports.

Clean the necklace by mixing a small amount of mild dish detergent with warm water in a bowl. Put the jewelry into the bowl and let sit for a few minutes, and then use a very soft, dedicated toothbrush to gently scrub the jewelry. Remove the necklace charm from soapy water, rinse it and dry thoroughly with a soft polishing cloth.

How it's made

Each unique piece of pottery, jewelry, art and more starts as a humble wad of squishy clay and is molded by hand into a piece of ceramic art.
