An Ethereal Unicorn-themed 5th Birthday Party

An Ethereal Unicorn-themed 5th Birthday Party

This past Saturday, we celebrated my daughter, Maison’s, 5th birthday. I have to admit, planning this party was almost as fun as the party itself. We have thrown her a party every year, but wanted year five to be a big blowout! I asked her what kind of birthday she wanted and like so many little girls these days, she said “UNICORNS!”. DIY is a passion of mine, but as a busy mom of two working full time running a small business, my time is limited. Luckily, Amazon, Pinterest, and Etsy made my job super easy. The invitations were custom made by my FAVORITE invitation company, Dixie Design Collective. One of the founders of Dixie, Holly Hollon, created branding for me years ago and I have loved working with her ever since.

Dixie Design also printed custom matching gift tags for our party favors which were of course, small unicorn stuffed animals.

I sourced the plates, napkins, cups, utensils, paper straws, and birthday banner from Amazon. It actually all came in the cutest kit (click here). Shop our cupcake stand in desert rose here. Photo by Graciela Blevins.

The custom cake came from one of my favorite local bakeries - Dream Cakes. The topper was sourced from Amazon. Our Blush 13” cake stand was perfect for this cake.

I created this balloon arch using an electric blower, and balloon arch kit from Amazon (it includes the metallic unicorn balloon). I kind of ran out of steam on creating the arch and it was super windy that day, which popped some of my balloons…so I opted for an asymmetrical balloon display instead. The picture for the product is accurate on Amazon, I just didn’t blow up every single balloon. However! The arch is easily completed in about an hour and a half. Buy some 24” balloons on Etsy to sprinkle in and you’ve got yourself a professional looking arch.

Maison loved her adorable unicorn dress from Jerris Apparel on Amazon. We waited until the day of the party to give it to her, and she jumped up and down with excitement.
